Questions

Questions couples ask first

The questions that come up most before a first couples session.

What happens in a first couples therapy session?

In a first couples session, your therapist hears from both partners, learns the history of the concern, and identifies the recurring pattern underneath the surface conflict. You leave with a shared sense of what you’re working on. Sessions are in person or virtual.

How much is couples therapy?

Better You couples sessions are cash-pay at $160–200 per session, payable by card or HSA/FSA.

Is couples therapy covered by insurance?

Coverage varies by plan, and many insurers cover couples work only when tied to a diagnosis. We offer cash-pay so you’re not dependent on that.

Does couples therapy work?

For couples who engage, research shows meaningful improvement in communication and satisfaction. We pair you with an LMFT-level clinician trained specifically in relationship work.

What is premarital counseling?

Premarital counseling helps couples build communication and expectations before marriage — finances, family, conflict, and goals. We offer it as a focused, forward-looking track.
