Questions families ask first
The questions that come up most before a first family session.
What is family therapy?
Family therapy brings family members together with a licensed clinician to improve communication and work through conflict, transitions, or adjustment. Our team includes LMFT-level clinicians.
Is family therapy covered by insurance?
We accept insurance and cash-pay for family services; coverage depends on your plan.
How much does family therapy cost?
Better You family sessions are cash-pay at $175–225 per session, payable by card or HSA/FSA.
Does Medicare cover family counseling?
Medicare may cover family counseling when it is part of treatment for a diagnosed condition. Coverage is situation-specific.
How does family therapy work?
You book a session, get matched to a licensed family clinician, and meet together — in person or virtual. The clinician guides the conversation toward the underlying pattern.
What is structural family therapy?
Structural family therapy looks at the family’s roles and boundaries and helps reorganize unhelpful patterns. It’s one of several evidence-based family approaches our clinicians use.
